Scott Grieger

What I really enjoy about Scott Grieger’s work is that he bases all of it off of “chance encounters that occur as he conducts routine activities.” He finds inspiration in things as small and seemingly insignificant as driving his car, shopping, watching tv, or teaching. This reading says it in a better way than I probably could- that his mental radar continuously scans the environment around him for the tiny instants that carry significance to him that he can then take and make work inspired by them. His motivation is to take these every day things and make them into something artistic and compositionally satisfying using forms and symbols to do so.
